Deepsikha’s Hospice – Shanti Sthal (For Palliative Treatment & Care) – Guwahati
Hospice is an institution that takes care of the advanced and terminally ill cancer patients. It is neither a hospital nor a home, but in fact both the specialized care together with the love of a home. The care given is to make the patient as symptom free and comfortable as is possible.
As there is a virtual scarcity of providing a holistic, palliative care support system in the North eastern states, Deepsikha commissioned the hospice centre in order to provide all round support to terminally ill cancer patients from the North Eastern states of India with special focus on Assam. Deepsikha has started a hospice at Mirza in Kamrup district, where trained nurses and staff look after the patients in the final days of their life.
These patients are provided transportation, food, accommodation and much needed palliative care absolutely free of cost during their stay in the hospice. The attendants are also made to stay free with food. After the unfortunate demise of a patient, Deepsikha takes the responsibility of transporting the mortal remains of the deceased free for cost to their place of stay.
